Analyzes and monitors weather forecasts and various models to provide operational weather data and reports that support operational decision-making during storm and critical fire weather conditions. Collaborates with Electric Operations teams, utilizing forecast information in conjunction with wildfire risk and outage modeling, to make recommendations for implementing operational… protocols to reduce wildfire risk and improve response to storm conditions. Works with the energy supply function on short and long-term seasonal weather forecasts to optimize generation asset utilization and provide weather forecasting data to support energy procurement transactions.

Job Responsibilities
? Utilizes advanced meteorological tools and techniques to provide accurate and timely weather forecasts, with a particular emphasis on conditions that pose a risk to our operational activities.
? Prepares and disseminates operational weather reports.
? Supports and guides the development of real-time weather analysis dashboard tools and reports to ensure the efficient communication of evolving weather risks with operations teams.
? Monitors and reports to upper management real-time and forecast weather conditions on a recurring basis during storm and critical fire weather events and major construction operational events.
? Provides daily, short and long term seasonal weather forecasts to allow preparedness, and proactive resource availability in the case of pending severe weather.
? Maintains and enhances procedures for monitoring the company?s weather network and associated alerts, including the siting of new weather stations.
? Serves as the subject matter expert for all storm and critical fire weather-related matters.
? Works with the energy supply function on short and long term seasonal weather forecasts to optimize generation asset utilization.
? Provides weather forecasting data to support energy procurement transactions.
? Utilizes wildfire and outage risk models in conjunction with weather forecasts to develop recommended operational protocols and actions.
? Serves as a liaison between the National Weather Service and Puget Sound Energy.
? Works closely with internal teams, external agencies, and meteorological organizations to gather and exchange relevant data, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of current and forecasted weather conditions and storm and critical fire weather risks.
? Stays abreast of advancements in meteorological science, fire weather forecasting techniques, and risk modeling methodologies. Implements improvements to existing processes and contributes to the development of new strategies to enhance our storm and wildfire risk management capabilities.
? Collaborates with local, state, and federal government agencies, universities, and other research groups to advance the science of Meteorology and develops new technologies and communication tools to promote safe, reliable operation of the electric distribution and transmission systems and renewable generation assets.
