We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Healthcare Billing Representative. As a key member of our remote workforce, you’ll play a crucial role in managing collections, account follow-ups, and billing allowance postings for assigned… accounts.
Responsibilities
Utilize various workflow systems and client host platforms such as STAR, SMS, EAGLE, and EPIC, leveraging available tools to effectively collect payments and resolve accounts.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of hospital billing (UB-04) and prior experience with EPIC or CERNER systems.
Engage in insurance follow-up processes, comprehending fundamental healthcare reimbursement methodologies and government, Medicare, and Medicaid claim intricacies.
Maintain communication with payers via phone, email, fax, or online platforms, ensuring prompt resolution of outstanding claims.
Accurately update patient and financial information and verify correctness regarding responsible parties for bill payment.
Monitor billing accuracy, promptly rectifying known errors and ensuring timely submission of Medicaid/healthy options coupons.
Adhere to hospital regulations related to account payment methods, possessing comprehensive knowledge of insurance regulations and contracts.
Identify and report underpayments and denial trends, initiating appeals when necessary.
Possess basic knowledge of healthcare claims processing, including ICD-9/10, CPT and HCPC codes, and UB-04 forms.
Proficiently handle Excel spreadsheets, analyze data, and communicate results effectively.
Maintain productivity and quality standards outlined in departmental policies.
Uphold professionalism in all interactions with patients, insurance payors, colleagues, management, and clients.
Undertake special projects and additional duties as directed by the management team, while ensuring utmost confidentiality in handling patient information as per HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
Required experience in Hospital/Facility billing.
2-3 years of insurance collections experience, including claims submission and follow-up.
Ability to collaborate within a team and work autonomously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Strong organizational, communication, and written skills.
Basic mathematical and typing abilities.
High School Diploma.
Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred, though not mandatory.
