Purpose
We are seeking an accomplished professional for the role of Associate General Counsel to play a pivotal leadership role in our real estate department, with a specific focus on construction management. In this dynamic position, you will represent our organization in real estate and construction transactions, assess potential sites for warehouse locations, remodels, and expansions, and… provide strategic recommendations to our management team.
Essential Functions
Job Responsibilities:
? Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial leases, subleases, purchase and sale agreements, construction and build-out agreements, along with various ancillary real estate documents.
? Project-manage and lead real estate transactions in collaboration with Construction, Design, Finance, and Corporate Real Estate teams.
? Act as the primary legal contact for inquiries related to real estate and construction projects.
? Contribute to the development, delivery, and maintenance of a range of leases, LOIs, construction, and other templates for use across our portfolio.
? Manage multiple projects efficiently, meeting tight deadlines while identifying and addressing legal and business issues.
? Handle real estate and construction-related matters, including notices, demand letters, opposing counsel correspondence, and negotiate effective resolutions.
? Provide strategic advice and counseling on a variety of real estate issues, addressing lease interpretation issues related to existing and new locations.
? Collaborate with lease administration on property management issues, such as landlord/tenant concerns, maintenance, defaults, rent discrepancies, and collections.
? Review reports and due diligence materials related to potential title and environmental liabilities.
? Identify opportunities for internal process improvements and actively contribute to their implementation.
Education/Certifications/Equivalent
Job Requirements:
? Juris doctor and an active license to practice law in at least one state.
Experience
? 8-15 years’ experience as an attorney, with a significant focus on real estate; construction experience is a plus.
? Formative training with a reputable law firm is required.
? Experience in wholesale distribution and retail industries is advantageous.

Physical Environment/Demands
? Some travel may be required.
